[Name]: Elize Lutus
[Canon]: Tales of Xillia
[Age]: 12
[Gender]: Female
[Canon Point]: After the final boss fight; before she decides to put Teepo away
[History]: A lot of Elize's early memories have been forgotten. Only when she returns to a familiar town does she begin to learn about her past. Though she can’t remember it, whenever she gets a chance to learn something about her or Teepo, she’s always very interested and takes an active approach in trying to remember what she can.
Her parents were killed when she was very little by a bandit, and she was found and sold by a woman who turned over orphans to laboratories that were studying the technology of Boosters. Elize was a specimen they were particularly proud of, as she had a sense of closeness with her Booster 'Teepo' that no one else had managed to come even close to. The information Teepo collected by being with Elize was later taken in order to become the foundation for the development of Spyrites.
In the early stages of the game, when Milla, Jude and Alvin first encounter Elize, it's in the small town of Hamil, where she kept in a shack in the back of town and told to never leave by Jiao; the bandit who killed her parents. While she didn’t consider him a friend, it became clear that he was looking out for her in his own way. He kept her safe from the other villagers who treated her like a pariah, with a few shaky exceptions - young ones who don’t understand why she’s being treated that way, or who feel bad treating her unkindly. It's because she leaves the shack she meets the party on their first crossing through Hamil however, though she doesn’t join them at that time because Jiao finds her and tells her to return to the shack. At that time he was watching over her for two reasons, the first being her value as a specimen from the laboratory and the value of the information stored inside Teepo. The second was a certain sense of duty to her, as it became clear later on that he did feel a sense of protectiveness over her, as the one who had stolen her parents from her.
When the party finds her the second time, it's at the mercy of the townspeople. When she left the shack this time, the people caught her and turned on her - throwing rocks and nasty insults at her left and right. It's because of that incident that Jude asks she be able to come with them - at least until they can find her a better home. However, she and Teepo prove to be more than just dead weight when they show what they're capable of in battle, and she ends up tagging along with them for the long haul, with the exception of one short break in which the party separated for a short time after Milla's supposed death.
At that time, it’s decided that she will stay with Driselle, a friend they made in Sharilton. In a sense, Driselle does become her family. However, she also finds herself dragged back into the journey when she meets up again with Jude and he points out that he intends to continue where Milla left off. At that point, she decides she wants to travel with them all again and help them save the spirits and stop the King of Rashugal from using the Lance of Kresnik - what they believe to be a Spyrix weapon that kills a massive number of spirits when it absorbs mana.
The group travels to destroy a large Spyrix known as the Lance of Kresnik. Though their enemies change a few times along the way. They fight the Rashugal army for it, only to have the other army stand in their way - desiring to use it. They maintained their own stance and resolved to destroy it. However, they learn late that it is not a weapon, but a device meant to break through the Schism and allow ships from another world that was at that point yet unknown to everyone, to pass into Rieze Maxia.
They were forced to shift their focus and examine Elympios as well. They sought to find a way to protect both worlds - people and spirit alike by destroying the Schism by defeating the true Maxwell. They also started promoting the use of not Spyrix - which kills spirits - but a new thing known as Spyrites, which do not. Though the concept was in its infancy, they saw it as the only way to help both worlds, and even when it pit them against the Chimeriad and Gaius, they fought for their beliefs... and won.
It’s at this point Elize is taken from. After the fight but before returning to Sharilton.
In the end, they all went their own ways, but kept in contact regularly with letters.
At the end, Elize returned to Sharilton to continue living with a friend they met on their journey - Driselle. She gave up Teepo, putting him to sleep, and began going to school and making other friends her age.
[Personality]: At the start, Elize was a shy, awkward girl with next to no experience communicating with others. The only 'friend' she had was Teepo, a pink and purple talking doll. It seemed at first that the two were completely different. However, the truth is that while Teepo may have its own way of saying things not unlike a personality, Teepo is notedly used by Elize often as someone who says the things she can't or is afraid to. Because of her timid personality, Teepo is often the one to dish out insults or cruel words when she has those kinds of feelings towards others. However, she doesn't always agree with the way he says them, which denotes a certain amount of emotion gets lost in translation from her feelings to the things that come out of Teepo's mouth.
While she lacked experience with others or communication skills, that by no means meant that she lacked a desire for them. It was exactly the opposite. Elize was very happy to meet Jude and the others, and became very attached to the idea of having friends and getting to be good friends with them.
She's always nervous the first time she meets someone. But she's also filled with a great curiosity about people. When she gets to know them, she likes the idea of getting to know little things about them like what kinds of food they like. Her speech can often times be found to have stuttering or a pauses in it, but it's improved a lot through her experience with her friends. She's shy and speaks softly, but her confidence has improved. While she still wouldn't brag about anything, she knows that she can be useful somehow to her friends and she believes that her place is with them.
Elize hates liars, and she's not incapable of being mean or holding a grudge. It's less malicious than it is the result of her taking her hurt feelings out the people who she blames for that. Examples include her treatment of Alvin, who betrays the party on multiple occasions and the way she treats everyone after they refused to help go after the memory piece of Teepo's that was taken from the doll. For a long time she does nothing to hide her dislike of Alvin, calling him a big fat liar and generally being rude to him personally and through Teepo. After the incident where Teepo's memory was lost, she became detached and angry at everyone. They were her friends and she blamed them for their inaction, because at the time she couldn't understand their reasoning. She let her hurt get the worst of her and she said a lot of mean things that she later regretted.
While she is still young and makes the mistakes and misunderstandings that a lot of young children do, she also has her own kind of wisdom. It's a simple wisdom, not necessarily linked to smarts as much as it is to emotions. She speaks what she feels a lot, and manages to find a lot of answers that way.
She also enjoys doing "girl things" like going out shopping. She also really loves food a lot and is very creative when it comes to finding ways to prepare foods.
[Abilities / Strengths & Weaknesses]: Elize is considered an extremely gifted Channeler. Her abilities with Spirit Artes are far more developed than they should be at her age. That’s because she possesses Teepo - a talking doll that acts as a Booster and amplifies her abilities.
Spirit Artes are spells cast by channeling the power of spirits. It allows you to cast elemental spells as well as healing ones. They are generally limited by the capacity of a person’s mana lobe, which is determined at birth. Boosters like Teepo amplify ability, but a large mana lobe is still the better of the two to have well-developed, as Boosters are known to sometimes have ill effects on the person using them if they use them over a long period of time.
Teepo also helps out in her attacks, being able to smash into enemies, or lift Elize and transport her short distances by propelling himself like a helicopter.
Elize is young though, and while she is brave when she needs to be, she also gets scared by some pretty silly things - if you try to fool her with a tall tale, she’ll likely fall for it. Loud sounds will scare her, as will anyone who can sneak up on her. She’s also afraid of being alone, so being separated from her crew would scare her as well, especially if there’s no one she recognizes around.
[Limited Powers]: Nullify Teepo’s ability to act as a Booster on her abilities and that will thus limit her powers decently. Her mana lobe isn’t small, but it’s not large by itself either. She will still be able to cast on a fairly decent level, but without nearly as much strength as she would have behind those spells if Teepo was amplifying her abilities. Teepo will still be able to move around and help physically, but loose his ability to amplify her artes.

here♦ Post: Trying not to stand out too much is probably too much to ask when you’re a twelve year old girl walking along the cobblestone streets with a strange pink and purple doll that occasionally throws out its own commentary. But she’s actually really glad Teepo’s still with her. If it weren’t for that, well, she’d probably be all on her own on Isla Empieza. She might not be the only person, but being the only person you know on an island full of strangers would be worse than being alone for her. She makes herself look small as she scurries around, feet walking quickly and eyes scanning everything very curiously. It’s not the new place that scares her as much as the being without her friends part does.
When she finds a somewhat quiet part of town, she lets Teepo go for a bit, and he hovers around her, next to her - he moves around a lot. “Elize, where are we?” But she doesn’t have to answer because what he says only reflects what she’s thinking. She’d talked to one of the townspeople on her way in, and she’d pointed out the direction of the inn to her, as well as the harbor. “Where should we go Teepo?” Because she’s sure that one of those two options are probably her best. But she doesn’t want to get on a ship alone, so she’s leaning towards the idea of the inn.
Fidgeting nervously, she turns in that direction and starts walking again. Still, her eyes keep exploring and she spots a pig on the side of the road. Almost immediately, Teepo starts chasing it and Elize starts laughing.
It really is good she has him with her.
But she bumps into someone in the street in the process. “Eek!” She spins and Teepo stops chasing the pig at the same time. “I-I’m sorry.” She’s shy around strangers as it is, but she apologizes quickly. Teepo chimes in to ask the question she’s thinking, but is too nervous to just ask. “What’s your name?” If anything, the truth is… she’d like to make friends here if she can.
